  • Click for Babies

"Click for Babies" is an opportunity for knitters and crocheters to get involved in abusive head trauma (also known as shaken baby syndrome) prevention. "Click" your needles or crochet hooks and make a purple newborn cap, which will be given out in November to all newborns in Maine. The color purple represents the "Period of PURPLE Crying", a shaken baby prevention educational program that all of Maine birthing hospitals are participating in. Caps will be collected by the 10 Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Councils. Click here to find your local Council who can help you get involved in this exciting opportunity. For more information about "Click for Babies", click here to visit that website. For more information about "The Period of PURPLE Crying" click on the link above.

As we learn of local shops that are supporting the "Click for Babies" effort, we'll list them below. We'll also post at the bottom of the page newborn cap patterns you can print or save to your computer.
